Miranda and I went to see Ringo Deathstarr, local Austin Shoegaze band, at the Mohawk last Thursday, and I was reminded why these guys are my number one pick out of Austin right now.
There was more time between songs than usual -- the band was short on guitars and had to deal with retuning between songs -- but they blared their signature wall of sound as loud and as surrounding as ever.
"If it's loud enough in the right room, it kind of puts you in a trance," said Elliott Frazier, singer/guitar player/songwriter.
I hadn't heard the songs off the the latest 7" live, but everything else was familiar. The band told the crowd that this would probably be their last time "playing the same old songs" since their first full length LP is in the works.
